There's no reason for 900 services to charge such high prices (like $4.95-a-minute) other than for the owners to take advantage of the situation and make huge amounts of money.

I simply must bring this to your attention since "I've been there and done that" scenario. I worked on one of those 900 lines and lasted just about 3 weeks. The majority of calls that came in were from people on welfare who could ill-afford to feed their families let alone spend that amount of money on 900 psychic readings.

Yes, there were calls from people who truly wanted and needed information about their futures and could afford the exorbitant price. People seeking knowledge on their love life, marriages, their careers -- but, they were more the exception than the rule.

When you work on 900 lines, you are trained to keep clients on-line for a minimum of 20 minutes. You also get bonuses based on your ability to hold calls for long periods of time. Anyone can work on these lines and are trained in the use of starter tarot cards. These particular starter cards carry possible answers and meanings written on the bottom of each card just to read and share so-to-speak. It's a numbers game for the 900 line owners who -- more often than not -- haven't even a clue as to the type of calls that come in or the sympathy that's needed to help. It's just numbers and, those numbers are huge.

And the psychics handling the calls are paid very minimal rates. It's hard to sit there and offer guidance to people seeking information with a phone monitor looking over your shoulder or listening in on the call to make sure you're keeping the calls to at least that 20-minute minimum.

Please don't get me wrong here; there ARE many good psychics out there who work on legitimate 900 lines. But, there are many more elsewhere - who provide what you are seeking at very affordable rates. The only problem that I see, is that when you're sitting home at night, bored to distraction, these 900 lines become a very convenient form of entertainment at a very high price.

Okay... I'll now climb down off my Soapbox so we can both be productive and explore the differences between readings and understand what a reading is truly all about. I just wanted you to know a little background on these services so you are aware of exactly what you may be receiving and who you are paying when you use a 900 service.
